Work Permits for Hungarian Nationals

Hi,
I am Hungarian born, but lived in South Africa since I was about 3 years old.
I became a South African citizen about 10 years ago, but also have a Hungarian passport.
Does anyone know what I need (work permit wise) to work in the UK?

Hungary is now part of the EC.

Do I just show my Hungarian passport, or do I have to register somewhere?

Any pointers would be welcome.

You dont need a WP you only need to formally register your employment once you start working (very easy process).

Is it possible to get a "registration" number before seeking work? (To avoid potential prejudice whilst seeking work)

If I wanted to act as a freelance consultant or direct contractor (ie: not through a contract house), surely I would also need to "pre-register" - for tax or other purpose?
