WP Dependent visa - new passport

Post by aristo » Thu Sep 22, 2005 10:31 am

I hope this is not a big issue, but if it is could someone yell?:)
My wife and child both have WP dependent's visa .
The child has been on mother's passport for past 2 years. That's the maximum period that the child can be on one of the parent's passport.
The child has obtained his own passport (here in UK), but the WP dependent's visa is still only in mother's (with whom he intends to travel sometime soon).
Could there be a problem at the entry to UK due to new passport not being endorsed with the WP dependent's visa?

Thanks for all replies

No, I don't think that is going to be a problem, as long as the passport with the child's visa is available, and clearly it will be as the child is travelling with mother.

The downside to all this is that the child is effectively unable to travel without mother. If the child is quite young then that is probably not a problem. However if a bit older and liable to get involved in school trips etc then you might need to consider getting the child's visa transferred to their own passport .... for which there is a fee of £160 by post or £500 in person at a PEO. The form to be used is the TOC Form. Or a different form if ILR held.

The child's age noted.

Of course this will all get resolved when you and your family all apply for the next UK visa. Clearly that new visa for your son will be put into his new passport.
