WP1 application for a person on C-Visit-Business visa in UK

Currently I'm residing in the UK as a business visitor (I hold a valid C-Visit-Business visa). The employer wants to apply a WP1 form under Tier 2 category for me. As I understand I can't switch from the C-Visit visa to WP visa inside the UK (because of new switching rules),

BUT
Can my employer file a WP1 form while I'm staying inside the UK ?

Please could you post a reference to the official document it will be very very helpful for me !

Yes, they can apply while you are here.

All you need to do it to mention in the application form the British overseas mission you will apply to for your Entry Clearance.
