German grand parents.....

Post by floatmates » Sun Jul 06, 2008 6:06 pm

Hi All,

Hope someone can help me here.
I am South African and have German grand parents.

The thing is my Grand Parents (German Jews) came over to South Africa in 1935.
My Farther was born in South Africa and I am not sure if he ever got his German citizenship, since they where jewish I very much doubt it.

Both my grand parents and father are passed away and I am not sure where to get any of the documentation.

Can anyone point me in the correct direction where to start looking for the documents I will need?
Or is it even possible for me to apply and obtain German Citizenship?

Thanks in advance,
Craig

Hi Craig

Have you read this....

So it seems to be possible to claim German citizenship based on the fact that your relatives had to leave Germany because of the Nazis.
