getting around visa limit with multiple passports?

Post by Gottlob » Thu Apr 02, 2009 3:17 pm

General visitors to the UK are limited (more or less) to six months in any twelve month period. If I have passports from different countries, can I get around this by coming for a six month visit with one passport, then leaving (briefly), and then returning under my OTHER passport? (In other words, does the passport control system keep track of me by name or only by passport?)

Are all these passports have your real name? If they have then the immigration will certainly know. They are aware of people with dual or multiple nationality. They can even track people from over ten years even if they use different passport.

Yes, I'm a dual citizen with valid passports from each country. But how could anyone know that? There's nothing on either passport which definitively ties it to the other.

Not true.

UKBA would not ordinarily know if one has entered the UK as a dual national unless for some reason you have been brought to their notice
for one immigration offence or the other.

Gottlob,

If an IO suspects you are not a genuine visitor and subjects you to further examination then there is the risk your situation may come out
and you may have some explaining to do, depending of course on what information you gave the IO originally.

If you get caught doing that you will be banned from coming back here for ten years. Is it worth the risk?
