getting a working Visa on a tourist Visa

Is it possible to get a (sponsored) working Visa while in Australia on a Tourist Visa?
If you find an employer who is willing to sponsor you will the application then be prosessed quicker since you have a limited time to stay in Australia on the tourist Visa?
