Good Character - Naturalisation

Post by Satty123 » Fri Mar 28, 2014 1:57 pm

Hi Guys,

am wondering someone could answer me on the below queries as i am about to apply for my naturalisation

I am an IT consultant with limited company as a director

1. Tax Reference :
Should i use the UTR number (by selecting as a Director in the section 3.2) or PAYE Reference number (by selecting an employee in the section 3.2) ?

2. Recently i have received a letter from HMRC indicating that my personal tax is due (Which is as a result of ,i was using an umbrella company back in 2010. Umbrella company paid me the money as a loan.) The question is, is this personal tax which is due does impact any decision on my nationalization application ? or would it be fine for me to apply and sort my personal tax issues later on ?

I had same case (but I was not employee of company) i.e. I was employees somewhere then I also had my company of which I was director so under section 3, I declared myself as employee and gave that business details then in additional information, I mentioned that I have company for whom I am director and stated company number and mentioned that all accounts and returns are up to date, NCS person told me that this information was not needed but UKBA does make check with HMRC to make sure that nothing is due on us before approving nationality application and if something is due then HMRC will start chasing up until you sort out some arrangement to pay outstanding amount by installments or instantly, they won't give clearance to UKBA and your case will remain undecided

I hope this answers your question
