GOT APPROVAL AND A LITTLE PROBLEM

Post by shubbie123 » Sat Feb 26, 2005 12:52 pm

I got my approval letter today. Here are the details.

Application date : 28th Jan
Date Approved: 15th Feb
Category: 28th years +
Education : 15
Earning : 25
work experince: 25

The little problem is the the DoB on my approval letter is a month different from my actual date of birth. The reason is likely a mistake from me while filling the application form. Now have two options:

1. To continue using the DoB on the approval letter. Get a passport with the date as I have no passport before and a new BC withe the date on the approval letter.

2. Inform the HO about this. But I am scared of this as I don't know what may come from HO.

Please advice.

I would make a change; we all can make an honest mistake, and I see no reason for you to be penalized for this by HO, especially since you have no material gain from this (e.g., before or after 28 app).

Otherwise you propagate the mistake everywhere you go, thus forever (or near so) living with the discrepancy.

cosmopol,
Thanks for your advice. I will call HO and inform them, but would like to know if someone has a similar or related experience to share before calling HO.

This seems like a simple correction, but I would write, rather than call. If you fax them the letter of explanation, they'll have something in writing to add with your file increasing the likelihood they'll issue you a corrected approval letter. Also, you'll have something to show that you notified them of the error, clearing any suspicion that might be aroused by the difference.
