Got ILR in Birmingham PEO

I would like to thank you members of this forum for their knowledge and experience they share with others.
Today I have been granted ILR in Birmingham (Solihull) PEO.
I had 2 Work Permits and applied exactly 4 weeks before completing 4 years.
I've been asked to produce the following:
1. SET(O) form
2. Photographs of me and my dependants
3. Bank statements for the last 3 months
4. Payslips for the last 3 months
5. Both Work Permits
6. Letter from my current employer

I paid £500 and was told to wait for about 1-1.5 hour.
After 1.5 hours I was called and was given my passports back with ILR stickers.

Congrats! I am going on Monday 13th to the Birmingham PEO to get mine done! I'm surprised they asked for your work permits as in the guidance it doesnt say you need them, also most people who have posted have said they didnt take or werent asked for there work permit?

I think it is assumed by default (if you tick "Work permit holder" in the SET(O) form). It would have looked strange if one applies in such category and doesn't present original Work Permits, wouldn't it?

In my case my first employer took my original WP document.. does that mean that I will have problem in future.

i_worker, congratulations first on actually managing to get an appointment to go to the Birmingham PEO, and secondly congratulations on all those ILR visas!

Of course you all now have visas with no conditions and so there is no reason to hold back on making claims to Child Benefit and Tax Credits.

Lots of applications for British Citizenship in a year's time?

A general comment about evidence to be taken along to a PEO .... take anything that might help your case. If the PEO don't actually ask to see that particular piece of evidence, well no harm is done, but the last thing you want to avoid is the PEO saying they cannot deal with the application on that day because they need to see some more evidence.

When my wife went to the Birmingham PEO in March 2002 for her ILR we took much more evidence than actually needed. In fact as it turned out the application was granted on the basis of the initial evidence which was produced, so we did not need to use any "reserve evidence".

Went in to do my ILR today at the B'ham PEO and I got it. However they did ask me for my Work Permits, and guess what I didnt take them! Oh well after a lot of umming an ahhing and checking things on the computer they gave it to me anyway. Though it was interesting listening to the their convo, they were saying the cant tell from the computer whether I had been in full time employment the whole period from the system, so either your letter should say this (might didnt, my letter was almost a one liner) or take your work permits along. However having said that, they had a checklist which they ticked down to say, yes he has sufficient funds, yes he has his letter etc, however its just something thats been cobbled together in the office, i.e. not official home office checklist, I think asking for the WP's is just a Birmingham PEO thing because reading the experiences of those who went to Croyden suggest that they did not take and were not asked to show work permits. I'll post a more comprehensive version of my experience, right now I have the rest of the day off, so going to enjoy that now!
