Graduate Visa to Skilled worker 'new entrant'

Post by srikarg » Tue May 27, 2025 10:01 pm

Hello,

I am currently on a Graduate Visa and am planning to switch to a Skilled Worker Visa under the New Entrant route.

I am under 26 years of age and my occupation falls under SOC code 2124 – Electronics Engineer.

According to the current salary thresholds, the standard going rate for this role is £49,900 per annum.

I have a couple of questions and would appreciate guidance:

1. Under the New Entrant concession, is it acceptable for my salary to be £40,000 per year, which equates to approximately 80.1% of the standard going rate?

2. Am I eligible to apply for a 2-year or 3-year Skilled Worker Visa, considering I have already spent approximately 1.5 years on the Graduate Visa? Does the time spent on the Graduate Visa impact the duration allowed under the New Entrant route?

Thank you in advance for any advice or clarification.

You can only spend 4 years as new entrant combining both your graduate visa and skilled worker. So if you had 2 years graduate visa the maximum you can apply as new entrant is another 2.
Otherwise, you will need other tradable points.
