"group" application

Post by MPH80 » Fri Jan 28, 2011 9:30 pm

Hi,

My wife's mother and brother (he's over 18 ) are about to apply for family visit visas to come for the birth of our first child. They will be applying online and paying online, then submitting documents in Lima, Peru.

We have sent over all our paperwork to them and they are about to apply. However, the consulate are telling them they must apply separately and that they must submit originals in *each* application. Given we only have one original of everything (as do they) - this means one has to apply, wait for the originals to be returned, then the second ...

This, to us, makes no sense. There must be a way to tie applications together - otherwise how do a family (let's say Father, Mother, Child) apply together for tourist visas? They surely can't apply one-by-one waiting for the originals to come back each time - no one would ever visit the UK!

The online application system doesn't make it much clearer on how a family or group apply together.

Any advice on how this is achieved would be appreciated.

M.

You are right in that it doesnt make sense to supply two sets of original documents when the family members are applying at the same time.

I would write a letter with the applications stating that the original documents are with the mothers application and that both applications should be attached to each other so they are not seperated during process.

Both applicants will most likely be seen at same time in which case the ECO should refer to teh original documents.

Do send copies of the originals with the son application with an explanation I have outlined in paragraph 2.

I don think it will cause a problem for you. It happens quite often all over the world when a person is inviting two or more members of family at same time.

You obviously have to pay seperate fees for each applicant as the son is over 18.

Hope this helps
