I have a problem about switching job, please help

Post by silentray » Fri Apr 20, 2007 6:17 pm

Hi friends,

I have a question about switching job.

I am currently working for a company and just got a job offer from another company. They have made the WP application for me and it should arrive next week.

The new job starts from 1st July. If I got my Visa switched to my new WP with new company next week (in Croydon), am I still eligible to work for my current employer before 1st July?

Many thanks,

Ray

This is indeed a 'grey area' surrounding the WP/FLR approval ,stamping and the job transfer phase.

It is clear that you are allowed to join new company when WP is approved and then apply for FLR, but it is not clear till which point you are allowed to work for your previous company.

Hi vin123,

Thanks for your reply.

I was thinking the problem in another way. If someone is not allowed to work with his previous employer after the new FLR is granted, he has to resign with his current employer before making the FLR application. Otherwise, once the FLR is granted, he becomes illegal worker immediately because he is still on his old post.

I am thinking how many people actually resign from their current post before they get the new FLR. It is quite risky, isn't it?
