Have they given us wrong visa and how do they change it?

Post by Ramsay » Mon May 26, 2008 12:57 pm

Hi

My Fiancee has been given a visa but pretty sure its the wrong visa. We even ticked the 'Fiancee' box on the form and referred to her as my fiancee throughout.

She has been given a two year visa with no restriction on working and notes me as her spouse/ cp.

I am sure she should have a 6 month visa and not allowed to work but the battleaxe at the front desk told us all visas under settlement category are 2 years??

Do I just go back to the Kathmandu office and ask them to send it back to Delhi and they'll swap the visa?

Doesn't look like the good lady will be flying with me on Saturday anyway

Yeah! But would the problem not arise when applying for ILR at the end of the two year spouse visa, when HO notice that the marriage took place AFTER the visa was issued?

I'd try to have it corrected if I were you, OP!

Cheers for the above.

Wasn't up for risking it as trouble could happen at customs or applying for next visa.

The office in Kathmandu said they would speak to Delhi and we might have the visa by Monday. I fly on Saturday and asked nicely if there was any chance they could maybe have a nice word and get it done by Friday. Got rather a snotty response that 'They Are Very Busy' - pointed out if they had got it right first time there would be no issue but didn't push the point as don't want to antagonise these folk.

With it likely my Fiancee will be going through customs alone could someone tell me what she should expect? She will have all the papers with her but should I tell her to take a medical before flying?

Cheers again for the help.[/i]

My good lady has got her visa changed but would just like to check one thing and get thoughts on another couple please.

First; her nationality is marked xxx on the visa but I take it this is because she is Tibetan and therefore doesn't have a recognised nationality?

Second; I am going to fly down to Heathrow to meet her and then both of us will fly to Aberdeen in case immigration need me. How long between her landing at T3, going to T5 and getting through their customs to our connection should I leave? If a medical was deemed needed would they do it at T5 or Aberdeen?

Anyone know of a way I can fly into T3 domestically or would I have to go via europe?

It would be a lot easier if they'd got it right first time!!!
