HELP!!!!! NEED TO BRING SOMEONE OVER FROM INDIA!!!!!!!!

Post by gremlindriver » Wed Mar 21, 2007 10:16 am

Morning all
My wife and I desperately need to bring over a girl from India to work for us in a domestic capacity.
She will be living at our home address and will be paid a monthly salary and will be working in a domestic capacity.
We are both in full time employment and have plenty of assets.
I urgently need to know how to go about a visa application for her, and need a solicitor to assist us.
Ideally, we would like her to be here within the next 6 weeks or so, so your kind replies would be appreciated quickly!!!!

Thanking you in advance

Why this girl? Why not a local domestic worker?

Simply because this person is known to my wife's family in India, and has been since birth, so although she is not family, she is treated and regarded as such.
And given the fact that she is going to stay in our home and look after our children, we need someone we can trust implicitly.

Kind regards

From http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk she'd need to fit the following criteria to apply for entry clearance as a Domestic Worker from India:
How do I qualify as a domestic worker in a private household?
You must be able to show evidence for the following.

* You are aged between 18 and 65.
* You have been working as a domestic worker in the same house as your employer for at least one year immediately before your application, or you have been working in a household that your employer uses regularly for themselves for at least one year immediately before your application, and you can show that there is a connection between you and your employer.
* You intend to travel to the UK with your employer, your employer’s husband, wife, civil partner or your employer’s child who is under 18.
* You intend to work full-time as a domestic worker in the same house as your employer, or in a household that the employer uses regularly for himself or herself, and you can show that there is a connection between you and your employer.
* You do not intend to work in the UK except as a domestic worker.
* You can support yourself and live (as confirmed by your employer) without needing help from public funds.

Firstly, thank you for your responses.
She seems to fit all the criteria except number two i.e. she does not come from a household which my wife and I personally use on a regular basis. She does however regularly stay with my wife's aunt In India and is treated like a daughter.
She does meet al the other criteria.

Kind regards

Number two seems pretty specific so I'd imagine that criteria would need to be filled pretty conclusively.

Do a search here, domestic worker has come up before there maybe be a solution there.

Would we not be able to apply for a working holiday visa i.e. able to come to the UK to work and take a holiday at the same time? To my mind, this would be the most suitable visa to apply for as she will be cominf here to work and she will also be able to have a holiday.
Naturally, I would be able to provide proof of income and assets and take full financial responsibility for her for the duration of her stay.

Thanks again for your help, it is greatly apreciated

Kind regards

Common sense, if this is not so specific anybody whoare working in the UK will be able to apply domestic workers Visa for their family, relatives, friends, etc.

Domestic worker visa is normally used by the member of UK diplomatic officers who finish their job abroad, British citizen who work abroad for NGOs, etc and return home, and allow their servants to continue working for them.
