I came here when I was 10 and now I am 20. I lived with my mum and stepdad and am not quite sure on what grounds I came into to the country.

My mum always told me that my papers were all sorted out so when I moved out at the age of 16 because we were not getting along and Social services had to be involved, I went on Income support and Housing benefit as I was a full time student.

I discovered that I was pregnant at 17 and me and my boyfriend moved in together whilst I was still claiming benefits and I then slowly began to realise that maybe my papers weren't in order but my mum could never really give me a straight answer. When my daughter was born I was 18 and I decided that I was going to go to the Home office on my own so I told my mum. She then said that she knew more about Immigration matters so she would sort it all out for me as I would have had to make another application on my own anyway because I was now 18.

After a year with no real answers from her I asked for all my documents,( Passport, my birth certificate and my daughters') . At that point she started refusing to give them to me and I realised that she hadn't even contacted the Home office in the beginning and I didn't know what to do without my documents. I was scared just to go to the Home office as you hear stories about people going home.

Since then my mom has refused to give me my documents but last week on Wednesday she rang me and said she had made an appointment at the home office for me. She said I was to go there and just tell them the truth about everything apart from the fact that I didn't know that I didn’t have papers to live here and also to say that I lived with her.

I’m confused as to what action I need to take next to resolve my immigration issue.
:(

See also Any good law firm recommendation? It would be useful if you can get hold of your original passport from 10 years ago, to see what endorsements it had.
