Help! Police Registration

Post by Yustense1 » Thu Dec 02, 2021 8:10 pm

So, I was on a Tier 4 visa and I registered with the Police as per the regulation within 7 days and all that. That was back in 2015. Halfway through I had to interrupt my studies for a year or so before I came back to the UK again to continue my studies in the same uni, within the same county, same everything. However, on the new visa there was the registration condition which I instantly assumed I had met given that I registered before as mentioned. I do not think my thoughts were in place and this is a very late realization now that I am applying for a Spouse visa and they request an up-to-date certificate. So, not only I do not have an up to date certificate but I do not have a certificate for my second Tier 4 visa in the first place.

What do you think are my options? I have tried to book an appointment, that is, better late than never, but there are no appointments available at the moment (Preston/Lancashire).

P.S Police registration was suspended between December 2020 until April 2021 but I arrived to the UK in September 2020 so I do not think this could work as an excuse either.

How long had you been out of the UK before continuing your studies?

If it was more than 12 month, your previous certificate is no longer valid and you need to pay to get a new one. Try to get an appointment no matter how late it is. Then upload the appointment letter (if any) or police's email saying there is no appointment available in place of the certificate for your application.

If it was less than 12 month, you can upload the above and also the original certificate. If you have changed address, update the address at any police station before upload.

Unfortunately, I was out of the UK for 15 months so yes the old one is now expired. One big problem is that my current visa expires in January.

But how likely my spouse visa will be refused if I've not registered and just uploaded an email that there is no appointment available?

No one here knows how the caseworker would consider it. But this is the best remedy you can do. Consider also including a cover letter to explain the situation.

True. I was just wondering whether you (or somebody else) have witnessed similar cases and what was the outcome. So far your suggestions sound the most reasonable.
