help regarding visiting uk

I have an urgent question regarding visitor entrance clearance at heathrow airport. Three months ago,I visited the UK and spent two months there visiting my boyfriend who lives in UK. I was granted six month entry stamp. However I had to come back to U.S.A after two months because I have school. Now, three months later, I miss my boyfriend and I would like to go back again to visit him and spend time together travelling around UK. Would I be allow to enter UK again as visitor? Is there a limit to how many times I can visit UK in a year. I do not stay long each time, I never use up the 6months validity period of the entry stamp but I do travel back and forth often during the year whenver I have time to visit him. Is there a restriction on this from customs.

Normally people who come and go regularly are granted a six month entry every time they enter but that is on the understanding that they don't stay more than six cumulative months in a given 12 month cycle. When you return you may be asked how long you will be staying. If you say it will be for more than 4 months you may be challenged as this is more than the discretionary six month limit for the cycle that began when your first entered. Often these decisions are very abitrary based on your profile and the quality of the answers you give to any questions.
