Help required- regarding maintenance funds clause

Post by Sukhpreet Singh » Mon Sep 22, 2008 4:47 pm

Hi,

I was in the UK from feb to august and having a citibank UK account where I am maintaining my maintenance funds. According to the clause in which the latest bank statement date should not be more than 7 days old from the application date, I have to submit my statement of august or september. Since my account is in the UK, it takes 5-10 days to reach to india.
I asked citibank customer care in the UK so that they can accept a authorizaton letter from me and one of my friends in the UK could personally go and collect the bank statement in Citibank, london office. But they said they do not allow anyone else to collect the statement.
I dont know how should I get my bank statement from the UK to my india address in between that 6 days period, so that I am left with atleast one day when I can go and submit in the Delhi VFS office.

Please let me know if anyone else is having citibank UK account and been thru this situation.

Regards

I've had this situation with HSBC Bank UK and they did not agree to provide statements to a third party when I spoke to them. I clearly explained in writing and asked them to provide an alternate solution and they came out with a solution saying that my firend can go & collect. Only thing was I had sent a scanned copy of authorisation letter and they wanted only original signed letter and hence I couriered it to my friend and things were smooth and I recd my statements. :)

It is worth writing - remeber to mention ' home office' . Ensure you write in a way they understand. ask them solutions and pl dont suggest. Your friend shud go with his/her id proof.
