Help with Naturalisation residence documentation

Post by ss4adib » Sat Dec 07, 2024 5:53 pm

Hi all,

My wife is in the process of applying for her citizenship but we have hit a wall in regard to proving residence and it would be great to hear your thoughts on how she can prove she resident in the UK between 2019 and now. (I am not a British Citizen myself so we believe she needs to prove 5 years of residence.)

For context she was granted ILR through the EUSS in 2019, but has lived in the UK since 2012. As a EU citizen she uses the e-gates to leave and re-enter the UK so does not get any stamps in her passport so we don't believe she can use her EU passport as evidence that she lives here.

She also hasn't been in full-time education or employment over the last five years, nor did she have a mortgage, tenancy agreement, or council tax bill as she was living with her parents before our marriage, and then in my family home until very recently (Oct 2024).

In this scenario what other evidence can she provide to the Home Office as evidence that she has continuously been in the UK for the past 5 years?

If it's helpful, she was in uni till August 2020, and briefly held jobs between June 2021 - December 2021, and then August 2023 - November 2023. However the short period of her employments mean she doesn't have any P60s.

Would she be able to use bank statements, bills or any letters as proof of continued residence? Or anything else at all?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I am happy to answer any questions any of you may have. Thank you

She can apply for a SAR with UKVI.
