High Court ruling against HO on retro HSMP rules application

Post by Cosmopol » Thu Apr 10, 2008 10:09 am

Well, it seems the High Court finally ruled in favour of HSMP holders present in the UK who were unable to extend their status due to rules changing mid-way and applied retrospectively.

The HO can appeal, of course, but I think the more pactical point would be, the legal ruling aside, what might be DONE with all those people who were adversely affected by the ruling?

Some have left the country having no legal option to stay, some have switched into other sorts of status (perhaps, with loss of continuity in status). I wonder if we are aware of any specific practical intentions or proposals on that front?

P.S. It seems I've misplaced this post - if it belongs under the "Tier 1" section, perhaps the mods would want to move it there... thanks!
