PR holder (married to an EU citizen) working in Europe?

Post by Rue8518 » Thu Jan 28, 2016 10:35 pm

I'm a Japanese national who received my Permanent Residency after being married to an EU national (Italian) for over 6 years. Out marriage is only registered in the UK as we both live in the UK and don't intend to move elsewhere anytime soon. I currently hold a Japanese passport but not a British one as the Japanese government doesn't allow dual citizenship.
I'm a freelancer and I just got a job offer to work in Hungary for a couple of weeks, but the employment offer is from a Hungarian company and they will be the one paying me.
As I'm married to an EU national, am I allowed to be employed by an EU company, or since my PR is only valid in the UK will I need to get a working permit from the Hungarian home office as a none-EU passport holder?

If your spouse is living/working in Germany you would be a dependent family member with a right to reside/work.

As a non-EEA national, (ie not sponsored by your EEA spouse), my understanding is you would need a work permit.

I think noajthan meant "Hungary" instead of "Germany"?
