housing in dublin??? helppp

what a shame.

i just got offered a full time job in Dublin / Limerick. i am currently residing in Longford. long way. as i dont know this country, i asked for opinions. my father in law strongly suggests to avoid Limerick, rough place. As for Dublin, it is 1.5 hrs journey for me. its just too much. looking for a place in Dublin isnt an easy job either. my neighbor's daughter is going to uni in Dublin, shes been looking for a flat for 3 days, still no luck.

can anyone advise me on housing in dublin? i just want to rent a 1 bedroom flat for now, we want decent area of course, reasonable rent price. i didnt ask where exactly the job is because i thought i couldnt even accept the job

If you click on Lettings on the top of the screen and then click advanced search, you can enter your preferences, maximum rent you would pay, type of accomodation and amenities and then hold the CTRL button down and click on the various areas you want to search.

I would not advise city centre or dublin south city or south county dublin as it is very expensive and overpriced.

Perhaps North City would suit you and would be near to the M50 and M1 motorway.

www.myhomes.ie is another option for you as well as www.daft.ie . Stay away from north dublin is my advise, not nice areas. South and West Dublin are pretty nice areas as you get LUAS (tram) and strong bus network. Good luck.

Hey don't be 'dissing' Limerick like that Wizardland lol . I know Limerick gets a lot of sticks in the press but trust me my experience while I lived there (up to 8yrs) actually changed my perception of the city. Although I must confessed I was scared stiff going. Unlike you though I didn't have a choice.

If it's of any help, suburbs like Dooradoyle, Raheen, some part of Castletroy (stay away from areas close to the university) have decent neighborhoods with diverse multi-ethnic middle class mix. People are generally fine in Limerick. You've only got to be street wise and watch where and when you go.

many companies have their employees advertising room and house rentals. This comes from employees leaving, or other employees looking for house sharing. You might want to ask try your HR department of your company and ask specifically for this.

Your hitting a WHOLE area there with a "stereotypical stick".

There are a lot of nice places in North Dublin, you just need to know where to look. Swords for example is a lovely town, with quality at affordable prices.

believe me, i cant diss any place here as i dont know what they r like. thats y i asked my irish father in law and he strongly suggested avoid Limerick. i was taken aback, cuz i thought from how it sounded, Limerick sounds magical LOL
