Hi,
I want to move permanently to the States (probably Nevada) and want to know the best way forward. I'm 28, single, UK citizen and don't have any qualifications apart from school.
But I am a proficient engraver (mostly guns/gun related) as well as an experienced gunsmith (10 years both), as well as many other skills.
I hope to apply for a visa/residence using the exceptional ability thing mentioned on the embassy website.
I will soon be visiting under the 90 day waiver scheme.
1. Would it be easier to apply for permanent residence while over there under the waiver, or whilst in the UK.
2. In my instance, with no qualifications on paper, how will the INS/whoever know I'm not pretending to have a skill? I will have tools/examples of work with me in the country.
3. In such a niche market I know it will be difficult to get an employer to sponsor me-How would I get on regarding self employment at the visa stage?
4. If I apply for the visa in Uk, which one do I need-the immigrant equivalent of H1?
Thanks in advance & sorry for all the questions
