How best to pursue a work permit in Health IT industry??

I am hopeful of getting a work permit in the UK. I was eligible for HSMP until the eligibility criteria changed in early December 2006 and this has left me looking for other ways to come and work in the UK. I have 13 years experience in Health IT.

I have sent emails to many recruitment companies with my cv, asking for advice on the likelihood of getting sponsored work, but so far have only had one reply.

Can anyone offer me advice? Am I going about this the wrong way? Does anyone know if there is demand for IT people with Health Backgrounds? We are rare in Australia....so hopefully rare in the UK too!
