How Can I claim for benefit?

Post by irarjuk » Fri Jun 18, 2010 11:51 am

I was granted ILR a month ago through legacy teams. My cousin bought a property for me 4 years ago and he paid my interest only mortgage up to now. I am married and have one child and my wife is pregnant at the moment. I am not working. My questions are:
1) Can I apply for job seeker allowance? Does the fact that I have got a home affect my application?
2) Can I apply for housing benefit to ask them to pay for my interest only mortgage?
I really appreciate your replies...............

hi
you can check you benefits on this site
https://www.turn2us.entitledto.co.uk/en ... lator.aspx
if you working then you get working tax credit
if you not working then you get JSA
if you working or not working you can get housing & council benefits

thanks

You are perfectly entitled to claim JSA but housing benefit only covers rent, not mortgage payments.
