How can I get a work permit for my girlfriend?

Hi

My situation is the following: I'm from Austria, living in the UK (just finished studying and I will look for a job in the UK from October on). My girlfriend is from Uganda. We want to stay in the UK and both work here. How can I get a work permit for her? Do I have to marry her? Or are there easier ways to obtain a work permit and visa for her?
