How to know if I’m on the 5-year or the 10-year route?

Post by Nass23 » Sat Dec 15, 2018 9:53 pm

I came on a tier 2 visa (general) with a CoS for a contract that is 2 years long(might be extended), my BRP card also valid until 2020, my question, how can I know which route to nationalisation I’m on? The 5 or 10 year? There is no information anywhere I looked on my visa or papers. Calling police numbers to ask is often frustrating. Thanks in advance.

Your visa won't tell you anything about naturalisation. Not sure the 'police' can help you with Home Office visa, ILR or naturalisation questions

You cannot hold a tier 2 general visa for more than 6 years.

You need 5 years before you can apply for ILR.

Then you need 1 year on ILR before you can apply for naturalisation.

All readily available on the HOME OFFICE website.

You won't find ANY information telling you that you CURRENT visa is a 5 or 10 year path or specific information about your current visa and naturalisation,

What is the reason you are asking and where did you get the idea of 5 year or 10 year path?
