How to do Phd?

Post by sri_sunny » Mon Feb 23, 2009 4:01 pm

Guys,

I am already in UK and have masters. U never know about changing rules and hence I want to put myself on the safer side. Can someone tell me how to do Phd and is there any other qualification above Phd?

I still have 4 years to apply for ILR and assuming that HO changes rules every year... it is sure that Phd would be required even for a visit visa.

Your early response would be much appreciated.

Regards

I think it depends on your area of expertise.

In what field do you have your masters in?

You can get your Phd in the economics field. Only a few universities offer studies in Phds. You will probably have to write a thesis paper which involves a lot of work and research. According to my information, you don't just 'study' for a Phd. It involve oral tests, thesis projects, written tests, and even (at times) work experience. In some fields you have to publish journals, or write books (science fields).

I think you should contact some universities and see if they have part time phd courses.

Personally, I don't think that they will change it to a Phd requirement. I think they may up the salary requirement again and fiddle with the age points, or even the maintenance funds required - but I don't think that they will up it to Phd.
