We found the right person. For me, the right person speaks English clearly, shows intelligence and maturity and does not try and impress with 100's of different tools, but rather solid QA experience with a good understanding of the entire SDLC.
Looking at QA CV's, they all look the same and I will be honest and say that it was the most boring task of my life having to read through them, but it has to be done. First you need to get the attention of the person reading your CV (I look for people with personality - someone that doesn't just have the standard set of tools and qualifications, but something that makes them quirky or interesting - one person took a 6 month career-break to study astro-physics). Not saying don't put your skills in your CV, but make it more interesting - show that you are not just a name on a CV and that you have personality. (BUT, also keep it short - I just read the first half-page of a CV and if I'm bored, I stop reading).
Tough job, but work on it. (Also something you can consider is specialising in an industry or tool or something which might be sought-after). (In my company, we just looked for a standard QA).
