How soon HSMP dependant can start working?

Post by mcendless » Mon Jul 09, 2007 10:16 pm

Hi there!

My wife just got her HSMP dependant Entry Clearance and we wonder when she can actually start working in the U.K. We know that in theory her status allows her to work, but is there any bureaucracy she will have to undertake before applying for a job? For example, here in the U.S. one must have a Social Security Number and it may take months for the authorities to issue the one.

TIA.

technically no restrictions as such. But many employers want to see National Insurance number. It will take some 4 to 6 weeks to get NI number,

The Moment you reach there... National Insurance No. is required but not hard to get. Your (or your wife's employer) will provide her a letter to apply for NI :)
