HSMP Extension- Age & date of submission issue

Post by hari15 » Sat Jun 30, 2007 11:12 pm

Hi all,
My HSMP extension is due on Dec 15 2007

I have one complicated issue here.

Age points for extension is 29 & under can get 20 points. 30 can get only 10 points.

My Birthday day is 15 Nov 1977. Hence I am crossing 30 on Nov 15 this year

if I can apply before Nov 15, I can get in total 80 Points and can pass

if I apply after Nov 15, I will fail since I will get only 70 points in Total

From Guidelines its been stated that we can apply atmost 5 weeks before expiry of current visa, That means I can submit anyday after 10th November. That means I can post on 12th Nov (Monday) which will reach on 13th Nov tuesday

I have 2 doubts here

1. For HSMP Extension will they consider age at the date of application or age at actual expiry date of current visa?

2. Does applying on 12th Nov is valid for Visa expiring on Dec 15?

Pls Confirm.

Thanks

Hi,
I think as your situation is very sensitive regarding your points criteria, you should probably call and email HO regarding this. Try to atleast speak with them and clearly tell your situation, see what is their answer i would suggest this

You can apply whenever you want, the 5 weeks is merely a recommendation.

Really? if I can apply now, I can easily get 80 Points overall. But my current HSMP Visa expires only on Dec 15th.

I think as per rules we can apply only atmost 5 weeks before the Visa expiry date

In Guidancee notes it has been stated that we can apply atmost 5 weeks before the current HSMP expires and in any case before the expiry date of current visa.

If I can apply now for the Visa which is going to expire on December of this year, then it is a real pleasant surpise to me.

I can understand that we can apply anytime for initial HSMP, But I dont think that is the case for extension..

Experts pls confirm

My suggestion, you should try becuase you have nothing to loose but you should anticipate if they reject to award you the point on age. You have to try this, as you have nothing to loose.

Indeed the guidance really say 5 weeks is the earliest, but in the past a lot of people submit it 2 months in advance and it is accepted, BUT you need to understand that in the past no points is awarded for age, so in this case you submit 5-8 weeks make no difference at all.

SInce the new system is introduce age is now very important and therefore, the submission date will count. I think the general rule is that if they see that it does not make any different if you submit 8 weeks or 5 weeks, they will accept it. But if they see that you submit earlier than 5 weeks becuase you want earn more from your age, they will be very strict abiout 5 weeks rule.

Thanks pantaiema for your reply

Actually if I submit between 5th & 4th week before expiry date I can get the points for age. i.e, I can submit any day after Nov 10 as per rules, if I can submit before Nov15 then I can get points for age. So I have 5 days window period, within which I should submit.

But my only worry is, For extension, will the consider date of submission for age or will they consider date of expiry of Visa for age?

Dear SYH,
Premium service is there only for WorkPermits and not for HSMP as per my knowledge. I saw many sites regarding this.

Can you pls give the link on where you found details for premium service for HSMP

Many thanks

This is a good point, I do not know the exacr answer to be honest. But it is sensible to think, and I full ybelive about this, like any other immigaration criteria, it is the date of submission will count (of course within the window that it has been specified) and not the expire date of your VISA.

Anybody have experience about this, please tell us you experience.
