HSMP from India - passport que

Post by suyash1 » Wed Jun 04, 2008 9:22 pm

Hi,

I am applying HSMP from India as per new Tier 1 system, kindly help me with the following ques:

1. Do I hv to mail my passport as a age proof, if yes then which courier service shall i use as most of the courier companies are declining to carry passport.

2.What is the requirement of passport - only as an age proof or the agency is checking/stamping any thing else as well??

3. How long will my hsmp application valid after successful hsmp?

Thx in advance,
Shrivastava

Hi,

First you are not applying for HSMP. You are applying for tier1. Since HSMP is still valid for countries other than India and UK, lets not use HSMP as it would add more confusion.

I dont think you have read the guidance notes properly. I suggest you have a look at them once.
Yes, you have to send your passport as T1 also includes EC for which passports are required. This would also act as a age proof. You have to submit the passports at the local VFS.

Since you are from India, passports would be required for Age proof and stamping only.

I guess your question is, How long would your Tier1 visa be valid for in case you get one? - initially 3 years.

suyash1,

Looks like you have not read the guidance at all. I would strongly recommend that you do thorough homework before you put in your application. Otherwise you run a risk of wasting a lot of money and your time, unfortunately.

Kind regards,

Thanks everyone for the information. As suggested by you guys, I will go through the document again in depth. Is it possible to send me the link for the same (hope I am not asking too much and being lazy, I can search myself but might end up reading incorrect one).

Also, a quick question. As mentioned by the members above, what I understand is that I need to submit the passport to the local VFS office and rest all the documents (through courier) to Home Office UK, is that right or I am mistaken again?

Thanks for your valuable input, I started the whole HSMP process in dec last year but this change to the tier-1 system has made it very confusing to me (as I have mixture of both in my head now).

Many Thanks for your all help & suggestions.

Everything is to be submitted to VFS. please read the guidelines carefully. Here is the link:

Look for information on this forum/post queries and we are always there to help you.

It seems you have not read anything except first page of BIA (Working in UK). Nothing comes free in this world, you need to spend time on BIA to familiarise yourself and feel confident on applaying Tier1. This forum is to clear complex doubt and wherever you are confused and find content of T1 guide ambagious.

This document available on the BIA websiteis the official policy document and offers very clear insight about the whole Tier 1 scheme and documentary evidence needed. The guidance document on the VFS website has been drafted from this policy guidance only, and probably incorporates India specific information (e.g.- maintenance fund requirement, application forms needed etc.), so do not skip reading this if applying from India. As suggested do read the documents carefully.

Do check information available on the VFS websiteregarding application procedures.

I would infact strongly recommend reading the guidance note available from VFS website, to the applicants from India, as there are some subtle but very important difference between this doc and the info available on BIA. As Sushdmehta suggests, BIA website is the ultimate repository of all the information otherwise.
