HSMP (US to UK) - not a US citizen, pl help

Post by daraj » Sun Apr 20, 2008 2:09 am

Please help as I am in a tough situation here. I am a temporary worker here in US on H1 and my status will expire soon. Country of citizenship- India
I plan to apply for HSMP as I have a US degree and qualify under HSMP(>90 points). And then once I get HSMP I plan to apply for jobs in UK

1. I have no time to do any mistakes in the process and rectify them later. I have to get it right tyhe first time. Are there any immigration consultants in US who can help with the documentation and verify the application for HSMP is right? Pl give a link with RELIABLE consultants in US for HSMP

2. Is the procedure straightforward where I can do it myself? what is the success rate and chance for mistakes if I attempt to do it myself?

3. also does it need my original documents like passport, degree certificates and so on or is photocopies enough? Because sending original documents thru mail to UK will be risky for me as I might need them myself to travel out of US once my status expires.

PLEASE help if you know anything. Thanks

The process is fairly straghtforward as long as you meet the education/earnings criteria. You should be able to complete it on your own but make sure you go through the guidance with a fine toothed comb before applying. You should also get your qualifications verified by NARIC and enclose all the original documents (including birth ceritificate (or a valid driving license if you don`t have your birth ceritificate),all educational qualifications, payslips, tax returns etc) when applying.

I would imagine the chances of rejection for someone applying from the US would be negligible but I would advise you to research the job market in the UK thoroughly before you proceed with your application..

Also, check the Tier 1 bit of this forum for more details on how to apply (mods, could you please move this to the Tier 1 forum?)

thirdwave, thanks but still some doubts

1. What if I want to use some consultants to help in applying? Or there no consultants in US who can help with HSMP?

2. I cannot afford to send important certificates like birth cert or driving license(which I am currently usin for driving in US!), passport and stuff like that. Because I need them here in US. How long will it take for them to return my documents and what are the risks involved? Will they accept photocopies? what if something gets lost in the mail?

how do people who apply for HSMP can afford to be without these documents for along time?

3. what is NARIC and who will help with guidance? Can you elaborate?

Thanks
