HSMP (old) dependent visa queries

Dear All,

I have few queries regarding the application of my wife's dependent visa. I am currently residing in UK under HSMP programme (old - 1+3+3).

1. I would like to get the stamping for my wife on the last week of October '08. How early should I schedule an appointment with the VFS Chennai? Would that be alright If I do it right away?

2. After searching the forum I have figured out that
a) VAF10 form and a fee of INR 17K are applicable for the dependents of old HSMP applicants. However, I am planning to have VAF2 and INR 50K as well while going to VFS.

b) Is the property inspection report mandatory? I will rent a two bedroom house exclusively for me and my wife, one month before I travel to India.

c) My savings bank statements are printed on 17th of every month. Since I would be in India and won't get the latest bank statement for the last one month before the application, is it alright if I print out that month bank statement from internet? Since few people in the forum have done that, I'm planning to do it as well.

3. In VAF10 form, what should I say for question 7.18 When is the partner's job expected to finish? I see some post suggesting that it should be the date when my visa ends, since I'm in HSMP. Also for question 5.2 (Please state the amount of money available) I'm planning to fill it with the amount in my savings account, considering the dependent is not having an active bank account.

4. My own HSMP leave is up for renewal next Feb. So when I apply for my wife's visa I will be having only four months of leave in my passport. Will this pose a problem?

1. I think if you request for an appointment 2-3 weeks in advance it shouldn't be a problem but best to check with VFS if you can make an appointment so early (for an October date).

2a. This should answer your queries, but I would still suggest that you check with local BHC directly to get accurate and updated information.

2b. Property inspection report is not mandatory and rarely required. Reading this should help.

2c. I would suggest tha you take the old bank statements with you to India (3-6 months preceding the application) and only use online printout of most recent billing cycle preceding the application (a brief explanation of why you have done so will help).

3. Say it is a "permanent job" (if indeed so). Amount in saving account should suffice (try to maintain a healthy balance until the application is made).

Please note that you need not to show any maintenance fund incase you are in U.K on HSMP visa which was issued before 1st April 2008 and been endorsed on your visa as HSMP visa. You need to fill VAF 2 for your spouse’s application and need to follow the same procedure as followed by you.

It seems so, if the VAC is saying it.

Maybe because the maintenance funds requirement came into effect only on/after 01-April-08 in India (when Tier 1 was introduced). If main applicant (from India) entered UK based on HSMP immigration rules in place before 01-April-08, then his dependents should also follow the same rules.

But it is always best to double-check with local BHC / VAC directly (as advised to OP also).

Hi,

I have a similar situation . I am on HSMP since Dec 07 and my husband on workpermit .

I had written to Home office regarding the forms for dependent for my husband and they said that no maintenance funds required and fee of 17k if main applicant visa has HSMP stamped on it.

But in my case, I had done an in country switch from Work Permit to HSMP cateory and the visa only states ' Limited Leave to Remain. No Recourse to Public Funds' . It doesnot specifically have an 'HIGHLY SKILLED MIGRANT PROGRAM' endorsement.

I just wanted to know if there are any different rules for dependent when the main applicant has done an in country switch.
