Your entry clearance vignette should indicate whether registration with the police would be required. For confirmation, beyond what you'd find in the vignette in your passport, here's the IND policy statement about registration with the police:
http://www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk/lawand ... les/part10

... and then to find out whether you are a' relevant foreign national' to whom this policy re registration would apply:

Tax & Social Secuty id...

Thanks Gordon,

Fortunately i donot need a re-registraion and the vignette also does not mention anything about police registration -So I assume it is not needed.

Just to check regarding income tax & Social Security - I come from denmark and everyone in denmark needs an identification number (CPR no. - Social Security) and a tax card which is linked to your CPR number. I assume there must be something similar that is needed so every individual in UK is uniquely identifiable and taxes are taken care of thereby...

PS: My vignette does mention ' No recouse to public funds'.

Cheers,
vishal
