hsmp refusal

i am an electronics engineer working in the telecom industry in india i had applied for hsmp in feb2004 chronological sequence of the events is as bellow

application sent : feb 2004
initial refusal received may2004
review request faxed july 2004
reply receieved maintaining refusal : aug 2004
2 nd review faxed :sep 2004
reply recieved maintaining refusal :oct 2004

in every refusal letter they have written "if u have any query feel free to contact us " what i should do

i have been awarded pts as claimed for my degree in engineering
but my 11 yrs of experience in telecom which is a higly specialized field was not able to get 50 pts under specialist catagory

in reply to my 2nd review reqst they have maintained refusal saying that "feel free ro contact us" shoud i fax third review 0they are now not replying to my mail)

As per the HSMP guidelines, you are allowed to request for a maximum of two reviews. I dont think they will entertain a third review.

What kind of documentation did you provide for 11 years of expierence. Whatever you provided was not sufficient in their view.

You could reapply, I believe in the paid-appeal process that Noddy has mentioned, your case will be processed immediatly. Look for posts submitted by Noddy.

Contact HO and list out this points to arrive at your best course of action.

In British English this means "Buzz off!" (or "Bugger off" if they were to use even ruder English)

Making a request for appeal is not going to get you anywhere when it comes to Home Office. Even before requesting an appeal, you should have tried to find out what was the reason for rejection. While I understand it is next to impossible to get through HO telephone number, but calling them up and requesting to speak to the concerned and getting the exact detalis of the reason for rejection is extremely crucial. This is more so the case when we talk about qualifying for the Experience criteria.

Since I have gone through a similar experience of being rejected, I did end up calling HO not once but a few times. My approach while calling was that I need to understand whether I should appeal or reapply and hence need the exact reason for rejection. That is when I got throught he case worker. Case workers are by and large nice people and they do share almost all the details.

After getting to know the reasons why I got rejected, when I relooked at my application, I did realise where all I had missed. At the end of it all, I could totally understand why my case was rejected. Once I knew what all needed to be done, it was relatively easier to get the experience letter as required by the HSMP team.

Also I took help of one of the message board memebers who got the application approved to understand if my presentation was complete. I was missing out on a few areas.

After correcting all that, when I re-applied or made a Paid Appeal, the application was processed immediately.

Moral of the story, mindless persistence does not pay off with HSMP but a sensible and logical approach mostly guarantees success.
