HSMP renewal and changing qualifications

Post by saurya_s » Sun Oct 25, 2009 8:06 am

Hi all,
I got HSMP through the MBA program in 2007. I got thru the MBA program only because at that time the MBA applications were fast tracked. I also hold a PhD from a reputed UK university. Can I use PhD to claim points while seeking extension?
Thanks
S

If your PhD is recognised by PBS then why not?

Thanks mate. My Phd is earned in 2002 and MBA in 2007 both from UK university recognized in PBS. I got HSMP in 2007 because of accelerated process. So, you are sure they will not object if I claim points based on different degree? I assume so- here is an excerpt from UKBA website http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/polic ... appendixa/

"Specified documents must be provided as evidence of the qualification, unless the applicant has, or was last granted, leave as a Highly Skilled Migrant or a Tier 1 (General) Migrant and previously scored points for the same qualification in respect of which points are being claimed in this application."

Thanks
S

You can use PhD qualification. If you have not used this qualification in your initial application, you would need to send the Degree Certificate along with your application.

If PBS calculator awards you 50 points for your Ph.D. then nothing matters, you can use your Ph.D. degree to claim 50 points.
