HSMP Success Story

Post by homeistheuk » Tue Sep 20, 2005 2:21 am

Hi everyone,

I just wanted people to know that I have successfully moved to London on the HSMP. I got the approval in late May, got my EC stamped in August. The embassy post dated it for October 18, 2005 eventhough I asked them to stamp it before then. This caused a lot of mayhem with my future employer. You may remember that I tried posting asking for advice on how to activate my visa earlier. The kind immigration officer from home office at Heathrow airport gave me his business card promised to let me in a few days earlier so long as I took an airline that guaranteed my arrival on terminal 3.

I went for a trip beginning of September to 1) find a job; 2) open a bank account and 3) find a flat. I accomplished all three less than one week. I was lucky to use a friend's address in London to open the bank account. I was in contact with several recruiting agencies, and narrowed it to two agents. I got all 4 job offers after interviewing with 4 companies twice. I picked the company with the best people and benefits. I also took the first flat I saw in the paper. The flat was in the location I wanted and the owner was my age, very young and laid back. She didn't require any references or anything. I figured that this would be a good place for my very first flat in the UK.

Anyways, I just wanted to tell you all to not give up. If you really want it, it will certainly happen. Good luck to you all.

dear homeistheuk,

i am glad to read ur success story. Congrats and best wishes for a wonderful stay over there

can u share the contact details of the recruiters and agents who helped u find job offers? What is ur area of speciality?
how much would u be paying for the flat? how big is it and what is the location?

would appreciate if u can guide by sharing relevant info

And, how, and where, did u come across the "kind immigration officer" who helped u get in before the date of visa? I am surprised the ur airline people did not object to it!! usually they check the allowed entry date on ur travel document?

would u share some more details for the benefit of, may be, many???
