HSMP to tier1 and then ILR

Hi all,
i have been initially granted for my visa under HSMP by March-2008 for 2 years,
and then when i extend my visa Home office issued me my visa under TIER1 for 3 years which will expire by March -2013

now my question is officially i have been living for UK for more than 5 yrs by March-2012 ,
so i am eligible to apply for ILR by March-2013 or do i need to extend my VISA under tier1 again for another 2 years ?
its bit a confuse of what i am going to do in here ? but according to my research on google i can see i can apply for ILR ?
but coule some one confirm this to me ?

You need to complete 5 years from the date of entry/date of HSMP visa stamp. You need to provide these dates to see which one applies to you. Whether you need to apply for extension or not depends on this.

But you can SUBMIT your application during the last 28 days of your 5 years. Meaning, on the day you submit your application it is not necessary to have completed 5 years (you can be up to 28 days away from completing 5 years), but you should have valid visa to cover entire 5 years.

actually i came to UK by January /2005 ,, and while i was in UK i got my HSMP by March/2008 so i can show 5 years , thanks for the advice,

so with regards to my maintenance and funds because of this HSMP and Tier 1 name changes ...do i still need to keep maintenance my funds for ILR?

i have noticed that many people have mentioned that changing the visa status from Tier1 to ILR we dont need to show any maintenance or funds,

my problem is i was from HSMP for 2 yrs and then Tier 1 for 3 yrs so i am in the middle of two categories ... dont know which rules are going to apply when i apply for my ILR .. could some one send me any guidance link ?

A good place to begin would be to read through the SET O form and SET O Guidance, both available for download from UKBA website. You will be amazed at how much of your questions are not relevant, a major relief to you.

so on top of your mind do you think i will be fine here ? also just a quick one do you think i will have to go through a immigration solicitor on my application ? or do you think i we can apply our self by filling the SET O form ? actually one of the solicitor i contacted is charging £ 1000 pounds for my SET O application form to be filled and apply through their company .. to me it looks like its expensive for me + the home office application fee also high.

From the information uou have provided on this thread, you should be able to make the application yourself, either by post or in person. But you will need to spend sometime reading the SET(O) form and guidance/immigration rules as has already been suggested. Note that some immigration policy changes are due to come into effect on December 13th, so do also keep an eye out for announcements on the UKBA website.

yes thanks for the advice here ,
i think my application will be quite genuine application cos
by the time i will apply for ILR on next march

* i will be age of 32
* my present salary is 34 K
* got my mortgage house in UK
* earned UK degree by 2006 in a good UK university

last time i did apply by myself cos no complication, but this is bit challenge cos of changing the VISA category to another one, but thanks guys for your wonderful advice in here .... really appreciate your comments and big thanks for keeping a side like this which will help people like us .
