HSMP visa and Student visa issue

Hi,
I got my Tier 1 visa(General) 2 months back which is valid for the next 3 yrs. I want to study fulltime in UK for 1 year. Can I study fulltime using my Tier1 visa and then start working(using the same visa) after finishing my postgraduation.

What will happen if I apply for student visa in 2 months time? Will my current visa for Tier 1 be replaced by Tier4 students visa? Or can I have both visas in my passport at the same time?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
