I made a mistake in the referees

Post by pythonista » Wed Aug 13, 2025 8:19 pm

I filled and completed my application and booked an appointment for the August 31st.

But I realised I made a mistake in the referees

I noticed that for my children the referees can't be just any friend with a British passport .. one of them but has to be a specific person (as seen in the attached image) who has interacted with the child in professional capacity like teacher etc.

I remember seeing the message that I cannot change the application anymore when booking the appointment.

What can I do now?

Can my application be refused if I do not provide the referees exactly as prescribed?

Do I have to withdraw my application and resubmit it?

Will I lose money if I withdraw my application at this point?

Is there a way to add additional notes and referees to the application on the day of appointment?

Or will the team looking at our application ask for the missing required referee if they do not find it?

I do not want to risk the fees as it's a lot of money for four applicants.

Is there a contact number where I can confirm this with the team?

Please advise.

Have you attended the biometric appointment yet?

If not, find a suitable referee (a family friend with a profession on the list is usually fine for young children) upload the form and just explain the mistake on the cover letter and upload that too.

If you have already attended the biometrics appointment, do the same as above and send it to the HO via email. If there were issues the HO would contact you rather than reject your application outright.
All advice comes from personal research and experience and should not be regarded as professional opinion.
