IELTS or PG Dip Busines- Visa going to expire on 21 May 2011

Post by antonio22 » Tue May 10, 2011 11:53 am

This is an enquiry about Tier 4 Student Visa. I am currently residing in UK as a Tier 4 Student (General).

I am currently pursuing Master of Business Administrations ( Awarding body - Liverpool John Moores University)

I am currently doing my dissertation and my dissertation submission date is by 29 July 2011. My Tier 4 Visa is going to expire on 21 May 2011 but my course will be end later.

I requested a CAS letter from my college. But my college ask me to provide a valid IELTS, English proficiency certificate (IELTS test score of 6.5). I have IELTS certificate of 6.5 test score. But it is already expired while I am in UK.

I completed 120 credits out of 180 from my University for the MBA and I am eligible for Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration based on that credits.

I haven't lived outside the country during the last three years. The expired IELTS was an entry requirement when I applied for the Visa and I provided with my previous visa applications.

The fact is, I am living in UK since 2008. I have an IELTS certificate just expired. I am currently studying a masters degree course and so far gained 120 credits ( eligible for Pg Diploma).

My question is that, Can I apply for a Visa extension under tier 4 with the above documents ( expired IELTS and PG diploma). I don't have enough time to take a English proficiency test and obtain result by 21 May 2011 ( Visa Expiry date)

I am in deep trouble now, for the successful completion of my degree I must be in UK until 29 July 2011.

Will I able to get an extension with my expired English proficiency certificate ? If no

Is my PG diploma (NQF Level 7) is good enough to prove I am proficient in English ?

Please help .........

Assuming you are actually studying at Liverpool John Moores (i.e. not that you are studying at a private college and your degree will be awarded by Liverpool JM) you are not required to provide another IELTS when you are part way through your course. The university has discretion as to how they assess your level of English and can state that they are satisfied you meet the required standard in all four components due to your progress to date.

Thanks for your reply Greenie...

I am not studying in the university, but they are the awarding body. I am studying at an A rated college in London.

Today morning I called the Home Office and the person attend the call told me I don't need to submit an English proficiency certificate because I am studying above NQF level 6 program. It is understood from that my English is up to the level. If needed I can put my expired IELTS certificate with the application but not necessary. She stated, I am part qualified ( NQF Level 7) and it means I am proficient in English.

I don't know what will be happen. My college said I should provide an IELTS certificate.
