IGS -> Student Visa -> PSW

Post by kkollara » Sat Oct 03, 2009 6:34 pm

Hi,
I was on the IGS visa for one year and I did not take the additional year at that time. I went back to my country and then applied for a student visa to study.
Now, after my current studies, will I be able to get the 2 years PSW or 1 year extra visa ?

No you cannot get Tier 1 PSW.

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... dance1.pdf
An applicant who has previously been granted entry clearance or leave to remain as a participant in the International Graduates Scheme, or its predecessor, the Science and Engineering Graduates Scheme, or as a participant in the Fresh Talent: Working in Scotland Scheme will not be able to apply for entry clearance under Tier 1 (Post-Study Work).
You do not qualify for the transitional arrangements either because you have leave as a student.

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/worki ... angements/
You can apply under the transitional arrangements if you are in the United Kingdom and your current or last grant of leave was under the:

Science and Engineering Graduates Scheme (SEGS); or
International Graduates Scheme (IGS); or
Fresh Talent: Working in Scotland Scheme (FT: WISS).

If you were last given less than two years' leave under the International Graduates Scheme or Science and Engineering Graduates Scheme, you will be able to apply to the post-study worker category under the transitional arrangements. The arrangements allow you to get a total of up to two years' leave under a combination of your previous scheme and post-study worker.
