ilr - 180 days outside test - how strict?

i am up on my tier 1 soon, having lived in the uk 5 years. in the last year i have had just under 200 days of travel - all multiple business trips of short duration and also about 15 days of vacation. in the next month, before i have to apply for ilr or renew tier 1, whichever way you look i will have more than 180 days by just a few days over. how strict is this limit? does it help that all were business trips which my employer could support? or i am safer to renew another round of tier 1, and then find a suitable time to apply for ilr in the next few months? i would much appreciate some guidance and advice.
