ILR and council tax exemption issue

Post by shri997 » Fri Sep 30, 2011 11:56 pm

Hi everybody,I'm a student and I have applied ILR 6 weeks ago.since I'm a student I'm taking council tax exeption. This year they send me a council tax bill and I applied for exemption, but after a week they asked for more document and said until I give the document my exemption won't be decided.I supply them rest of document last week but today I got notice of summon form magistrate court for unpaid council tax.I contact my council and explaind about the matter but they said they can tell me about this next week only.I'm really worried now. Is it a criminal offence ? Is it going to effect my application ?

No

As regards the Council, suggest you contact one of your local Councillors and get them to take up the matter of the Council's maladministration.
