ILR and NI number

Hi there,

A quick question, I have found a new section in the SET (O) form about the NI number. I am applying for the ILR next month. Unfortunately, on my first work permit, I did not work for the company mentioned in my work permit, so I have not paid any tax or national insurance for that period. Does home office check all these details before issuing ILR?

Any advice or comments?

How can you not have paid tax or NIN? That doesn't sound right.

Hummm.... I have not worked for that period.... the company was closed... How can I pay tax when there is no job...

Now I see, I thought you were saying you worked for another company. Don't know how the HO is going to react to that. Did that not come up in the renewal of the work permit?

Not sure of your exact situation but when I applied for ILR the Home Office pretty much wanted to know that

(a) I had worked for the company which sponsored the work permit.
(b) I was still working for them.
(c) They still needed me.

My case was simpler than yours, there was only one company and work permit involved. Not having actually worked for them would certainly cause them to frown.

What time periods do your work permit(s) cover, and what periods did you actually work? I think we need more info here.

I came to UK on work permit 1 company and did not work for it. Later work permit 2 company had processed my work permit and I am still working for that company.

Then you can't count the time for the first work permit towards ILR, the basis of that permit was to work for that company, you didn't work so you get no credit fo that time
It would have been different if the company some how was at fault during that period but as you have not provided any basis, I have to assume you failed to complete the conditions of that permit

Yeah you are right. But my question was different. Have you got any idea about it?

Zircon, the HO is supposed to check tax details with Inland Revenue and police records with the national database.

As both can be done from the comfort of their wired up workstations ... I assume they must do.
