ILR application - Is a baby (born in UK) passport required?

Post by Chess » Wed Apr 13, 2005 2:20 pm

When applying for ILR, is a baby's passport required - assuming baby was born in the UK prior to the granting of ILR to the parents.

Would HO just stamp the parents ppt with ILR and then issue a letter for the child? or MUST the child acquire a ppt (I find ther latter bizzare!)

Passport ideal - if none presented then HO can issue a document granting LTR. Usually takes the form of a residence permit (vignette) on an A4 size sheet of paper. Given that such is not valid for travel (anywhere) on its own I fail to see why getting a passport is an issue. This is further strengthened by HO concerns pertaining to abuse of the dependent children visa category.

Thanks Kaya.

Getting a ppt would not be an issue at all, but ppt would serve no purpose if baby does not intend to travel soon

My understanding is that as soon as this 'letter' of ILR is provided then application for Registration of baby as a BC can be submitted.
