ILR application while awaiting tier 2 visa decision?

May I seek your advice. I am eligible to apply for ILR on 28th June 2021 (tier 2 visa- 5year route). My current tier 2 visa is valid till 14th August 2021. However, from 2nd August 2021 I am starting a new job (with a new employer). I have applied for a new tier 2 visa (submitted biometric on 9th June 2021) and awaiting decision.

- Can I apply for ILR while awaiting decision on my tier 2 visa application or before commencing the new job? or Do I need to wait to commence the new job before applying for ILR? My new (future) employer has kindly agreed to provide a letter stating that I would be needed in the employment in foreseeable future.
- We are expecting a baby in early August and I am keen to sort out ILR before that, if possible, as it would benefit baby.

No. You must wait for the new visa to be granted and work for a month before applying for ILR
