My ILR - UK born kids - Naturalisation eligibility

Post by reonred » Wed Oct 02, 2024 2:11 pm

Hi Gurus,

I lived in UK from 2015 august to 2018 august and my elder son was born in 2016 in UK.
I have been living in UK from 2019 december and I had another kid in 2021 in UK.
Now I am eligible for ILR in this december. So I planned to go for ILR all 4 members of my family. But I am getting suggestions from friends that My both kids will be eligible for naturalisation after I get my ILR. I read some where that my second kid is eligible as he was born during my ILR eligibility period, But I am not sure about my elder son.
Could you please check and share your inputs.

Thanks.

Children do NOT get naturalised, they get registered as British. Children born in the UK can be registered as British directly using the form MN1 when at least one parent settles. Children born to a settled parent are British at birth. Being born 'during my ILR eligibility period' is not a thing. None of your children need ILR to be registered.

Thanks Guru for your valuable inputs.
I left UK in August 2018 and came back in December 2019. Hope that break will not affect my elder kid's British registration.
Kind Regards.

It won't, as kids were born in the UK and there are no absence requirements for either parent or child for children's registration.
All advice comes from personal research and experience and should not be regarded as professional opinion.
