ILR BRP expired, need to travel urgently

ILR BRP expired, need to travel urgently

Hi all,

Friend of mine has an ILR, his brp expired few months ago and he hasn’t renewed it.
Sadly his father just passed away and has to travel? can he do that without having serious issues?

At the moment a valid BRP will be required as proof of his immigration status in UK. The airline requires this before he can embark the aircraft for his return journey.

Can he not travel with expired brp and apply for Replacement BRP visa in country he is traveling to? apparently that is possible and allows entry once?

That's possible. But he has no idea when it would be issued, hence he has no idea when he'll be coming back.

It's a massive gamble.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!

He can, but it might take a very long time. If he wishes to take the risk, he can go for it.
